Our Team

Who are you?

I am the founder of Sunset Grooves, slightly ginger born in Lausanne, Switzerland and my passion for music and events is anchored deep in my roots from the moment I first heard my parents play vinyls from Dire Straits to Bob Marley. I also DJ under my alias Funky Chap and my other big passion is everything to do with sport.

Music?

I love every kind of music from different genres and decades. Sunday morning, I can go for some jazz or blues, driving my car, I crack up the groovy funk or disco, after works let’s go for that downtempo deep house vibe and when we go deep into the night, I want to whip out some deep indie tech vibes. Favourite bands include Rage Against the Machine, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Led Zeppelin, Bobby Womack, Queen, Tribe Called Quest, the list goes on. I also secretly love singing to George Michael.

What does Sunset Grooves represent for you?

A community that is full of positive vibes bringing like minded, kind and fun people together, an opportunity to discover quality niche artists, underground music within a variety of genres as well as taking away with you something new at every event. An opportunity to learn more about the history of music and maybe pave the way for future events and what lies ahead of the music industry.

Who are you?

I was born in Switzerland in Monthey and spent my first 10 years in Vouvry. With my family, we then moved to the south of France before eventually returning, 7 years later, to Lausanne. It’s in this city that my passion for music developed. I had the chance to DJ at Montreux Jazz for my first public gig in 2017. From there, many gigs and festivals followed in Lausanne, as well as in Geneva or Zurich. I currently live in Sion in Valais. Coming back to live in my native canton has always been in the back of my mind, and I don’t regret the beautiful valley where I wake up every morning, surrounded by mountains.

Music?

I’m very open to all styles of music with a strong preference for downtempo and melodic deep house. These are actually the main styles that come out during my DJ sets. I listen to a lot of music and I love discovering new tracks. The best thing about discovering a song is when it becomes a track I can listen to on repeat all day, all year long. These kinds of tracks give you goosebumps and make your whole body vibrate. My stage name, Atropos, comes from the name of a moth, Atropos Acherontia, and I love what moths represent as a spirit animal: putting aside our fears and making room for change without worrying about dangers and with lightness.

Genres?

Downtempo, Ketapop, Organic music, Deep House, Indie Dance, World music

Favorite DJs/Groups:

Vox Low, PillowTalk, Billy Caso, Arutani, Louf, S.A.M, Burger/ink, Acud.

Guilty Pleasure:

What does Sunset Grooves represent for you?

Sunset Grooves is everything you look for in a music label: groove, musical diversity, and an amazing team. I love the whole Sunset team; we have great camaraderie, we’re on the same wavelength, and we bring a lot to each other through our different lifestyles and musical tastes. That’s also what makes the label strong, the artistic and musical variety that we strive to maintain. I’m also proud of our Soundcloud channel which has attracted hundreds of artists; check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Who are you?

I am a music enthusiast. After a long period of hip-hop, I started listening to electronic music, whether in clubs or at home. With a background in classical and jazz piano, it was only natural that when I wanted to pick up an instrument again, I turned to turntables to tell the stories I wished I could have heard when I was on the dance floor.

Music?

I truly listen to everything. Starting from the principle that every style stems from another, it seems important to me to draw inspiration from everything that is done in order to then be able to create.

Genres?

Hip-hop, reggae, classical, jazz, funk, minimal, deep tech, indie dance

Favorite DJs/Groups:

Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, Looptroop, Bootcamp, Immortal Technique, Infexious Grooves, Quasimoto, Sublime
